Trey sang the verses of Fee through a megaphone. Mike teased Peace Frog in Split Open and Melt. Wilson and Antelope contained Simpsons signals. Mike dedicated Mike's Song to Cilla and mentioned her name in the intro. Weekapaug included My Girl teases. Fish wore a coat and tie for this show!

DollarBill WOW!!! And I mean WOW! This is the second in two years, and last show at the Balch Field house in Boulder, 28th of the tour. This one is high energy and may be the closest thing I've heard to "THE PERFECT PHISH SHOW” (this tour, so far) And I don't throw that phrase around lightly. This was a great sounding recording and a real joy to listen to all around.

Landlady was a little timid at first as they got settled in, but then...BOOM! The flood gates open with a mini bust out of Funky Bitch and its pure adrenalin. Believe it or not, the adrenalin doesn't stop in an aggressive Bouncing. Maze is just on fire, straight up. Fee mellows everyone out a bit, but is reasonably tight. ATR is also nice and tight. Melt is good, pretty standard rock. Contact makes an appearance and is a little sloppy but a funny standard Mike moment. Llama absolutely rips and the adrenalin is back. Wilson was great and had a nice tease of something throughout by Mike leading to a nice accompanying jam. Right into a smoking Antelope and I mean it! WOW could only sum up my feelings after I heard this.

It's also been a while for Suzy to come out so this one's a little sloppy, but rocks the opener position. Right into a rocking Tweezer and this one is pretty standard for this tour. Lizards has a few off notes here and there, but overall well done. Ice also had its spots, but still finishes in the good category. Glide was good and they get a great crowd response at the end. Pen is really nice, maybe a few off spots. Then the balls come out. Really funny stage banter at the beginning of Mike's Song and a great jam and even a passable Hydrogen. Weekapaug is great with Mike's distortion at the beginning and a really nice dynamic Page breakdown in the middle. FEFY was a little sloppy, maybe just too much adrenalin for a song like that. HYHU brings Fish out for a nice solid Love You complete with band intros and mini solos. Tweeprise does the job closing up and this one is a little sloppy but at this point who cares. This show was so good none of that matters.

Great, funny encores tonight with a super fast My Sweet One, great stage banter before Amazing Grace, "Page on the tuning pipe everybody.", and a really unique MARS!!! Seriously, some people may not like Mars, but holy crap this one is great! From Mike's killing lyrics with F bombs, to Page's jazzy jam in the middle this one delivers the goods.

And the show completes with the Charlie Brown Christmas song as the walk out music. What more could you want out of this one? Or any Phish show for that matter? Don't say YEM you're just being greedy now.

I've got to five star this one to keep its average score up there. It's a great listen.

Review by hardua

hardua Vail then Boulder --> quite the 1-2 punch. Another great show. Tons of energy at Balch amidst the smoke and heat. I lived 1/2 mile from the venue so it was super easy. The party started early and resumed after the show.

About thirty minutes before leaving, we heard first-hand that security was tough. Two dudes in our group decided to go early to get up front. They were asked to empty their pockets and you know what happened next. The second guy seeing this ate a whole bag of fungus rather than giving it up. Instead of going into the show they walked back to the party and told everyone to be alert and get creative. The fungus guy didn't make it back to Balch. Nobody saw him for the next few days...

Penn42 Just a couple things:

1. Overall, this is a really great show.

2. This is a really unique Wilson. It's not jammed, but if you want to hear a new take on this song, give this version a listen.

3. Mike's Groove is hawt! Mike's babbling during the intro to Mike's Song is pretty funny.

4. I'm glad I listened.

Review by MrPalmers1000DollarQ

MrPalmers1000DollarQ Damn great spring '93 here. The first set is full of classic tunes all played strong until you get to Wilson, which is infused with extra fun improvisational playing in the intro and breakdown. The closing Antelope is a beast of a jam as well. Second set Suzy features some particularly great Fishman, and Tweezer has an excellent Trey-centric jam. Mike's Groove is really the other major high point, with special props to Weekapaug. WG gets jam of the night from me. Love the My Girl teases. Just such a spirited version of the tune.

MyRightToe My Song, Silla, Song, Silla, Song- Can't believe there is no show note anywhere about this Mike's song entrance, one of my fav shows here. Also can't get enough of that maze.
